STARRING:Will Smith, Jason Bateman, Charlize Theron, Eddie Marsan
RUNTIME:1 Hour 32 minutes
The Fourth of July is coming, which means we have three things to look forward to: 1) fireworks, 2) cookouts, and 3) another Will Smith blockbuster. Will Smith’s previously Fourth of July movie debuts included the hugely successful action adventures Independence Day, Men in Black and the sequel Men in Black II, and the not so successful Wild Wild West. It’s safe to say Will Smith owns the Fourth of July weekend. No other movie star has had so much success on one given weekend. And, if Hancock meets expectations, this will be Smith’s eighth consecutive $100 million movie.
This year’s entry is Hancock, and from all the hype, it looks like another winner. It combines the two H’s Will is known for: humor and heroics. Will plays a homeless antisocial superhero in desperate need of some positive public relations. Taglines from Hancock include: he is saving the world whether we like it or not. That’s my kind of guy.
So, fire up the grill, light the roman candles and head to the show!
